Meet Michael

Michael A. James

Michael James is 34 years old and the middle son of three boys. Since the age of 19, he has been involved with the youth, whether as a youth leader at his church or aiding in various activities with youth organizations, such as Y2X and GIFTED Foundation. Michael strongly believes that they are an intricate part of our livelihood as they are our future leaders, so there’s always been an urgent drive in him to groom, nurture and mold the youth to be leaders in their own regard and to blossom into respectable men and women that will set a standard immerging a light of pride illuminating St. Maarten.

After seven years in banking at RBTT, holding positions of teller, head teller and CSR representative, Michael transitioned to the Education field. While teaching at Asha Stevens Hillside Christian School and pursuing his bachelors in Education at the University of St. Martin, he was offered the opportunity to join the Justice department as an Immigration officer.

Justice has always been a love of Michael’s, as he has zero tolerance for injustice. He believes that “the bad guys” will relentlessly, consistently and aggressively be bad and do bad. As a consequence, if there aren’t any “good guys” to combat these “bad guys”, then “the bad guys” automatically win. For this reason Michael chose to seize the opportunity and joined the Immigration department where he completed his Immigration course at the Justice Academy and is currently employed with the KPSM Immigration department. Shortly after graduating from the Justice Academy, Michael joined the Voluntary Corps of St. Maarten (VKS) and is an active member to this day.

Michael is a lover of St. Maarten and its people and believes that all should be able to enjoy a good quality of living. He has an unquenchable desire to help those who can’t help themselves or are in dire need of help and to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves. He strongly believes in the saying that “Evil prevails when good men do nothing”. In his free time, Michael enjoys going to the gym, CrossFit, and is a member of Toastmaster’s.
